Church membership is not like membership in a social club or other organizations. In most organizations, members are consumers; the organization exists to serve them. The Church is a completely different type of community. Membership means participating in the ministry and service of the church. It means going from being a consumer to becoming a provider of God's love to others. At Hope, we want to be a church that exists not for ourselves, but for others. To be a member of a church is to make a public promise to live according to God's Word and to support the worship and work of the church. We encourage everyone who calls Hope their church home to become official members.
The process for joining Hope begins with attending our Discovering Hope Class. This is typically a Friday night & Saturday morning class. The Discovering Hope Class is required for membership, but its also helpful for anyone who simply wants to know more about Hope. In the class we cover our history and vision, our philosophy of ministry, and what we believe the Bible teaches.
Our Discovering Hope class is offered on a quarterly basis. To register click here.
After the Discovering Hope Class, those wishing to join can fill out the membership application you received during the class and send it into the office. You may also email our administrator if you need a digital copy of the application.
New Member Interview
After we receive your Membership Information Sheet, we'll schedule a new member interview with a few of out elders. This meeting is an opportunity for us to hear your story and answer any questions you might have had after the Discovering Hope Class.
The final step is to join the church one Sunday morning by taking the membership vows during the worship service. We will coordinate the joining date with you after your new member interview.
If you have any questions about membership, please contact one of our pastoral staff.
