Preparing To Rejoice In Him // October 22, 2017

PREPARE YOUR HEART FOR WORSHIP ON OCTOBER 22, 2017

Luke 15:18-20

[18] I will arise and go to my father, and I will say to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you. [19] I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Treat me as one of your hired servants.”’ [20] And he arose and came to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion, and ran and embraced him and kissed him. (ESV)

This Sunday we will hear about repentance. The above passage gives us such a beautiful image of our Father’s reaction when we repent. He finds us, tells us who we are, He kisses us with His Son, wraps us in the righteousness of Christ, runs to us with reckless abandon and apprehends us with endless compassion.

As you prepare to worship corporately this Sunday, let the picture that is painted by Scripture in Luke 15:18-20, cause you to run to him and fall into His embrace of mercy, love and grace. And, rest in knowing He finds great delight in forgiving you and calling you His own.

WORSHIP IN SONG

I Am Set Free

I Am Set Free

You broke my chains of sin and shame
And You covered me with grace
You mend my life with Your holy fire
You cover me with grace
And You are the hand that reaches out to save

I am set free oh
I am set free oh
It is for freedom that I am set free

Yes Lord we are grateful for Your grace and for Your love
Yes Lord we are grateful for Your grace and for Your love
Yes Lord we are grateful for Your grace and for Your love
Yes Lord we are grateful for Your grace and for Your love
‘Cause You are the hand that reaches out to save

GOD’S CALL TO COME WORSHIP AND BE SURE OF HIS MERCY :: Matthew 11:28-30

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” (ESV)

CONFESSING OUR FAITH :: Westminster Shorter Catechism, Q. 87

Q: What is repentance unto life?

A: Repentance unto life is a saving grace, whereby a sinner, out of a true sense of his sin, and apprehension of the mercy of God in Christ, doth, with grief and hatred of his sin, turn from it unto God, with full purpose of, and endeavour after, new obedience.
