Sid Druen

Pastor of Community Groups

Sid Druen, Pastor of Community Groups

Sid was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio. He moved down to North Carolina, where he graduated from Davidson College. While attending Davidson, Sid became a Christian, discovered the message of grace, and met his wife Tere. Sid and Tere have 3 growing children who were all born in New Mexico: Carol, William, and Millie.

Sid came to ministry as a second career. He first taught and coached at a school near Washington D.C.  There, he became aware of his desire to teach about the gospel and mentor others in that, so Sid and Tere moved to Orlando, Florida. Sid got his Masters of Divinity degree from Reformed Theological Seminary. While going to school at RTS, he also interned as a young adults minister in a local church and with Reformed University Fellowship (RUF) at the University of Central Florida.

At RTS and RUF at UCF, Sid felt a call to match his love for the gospel of grace and sitting with difficult head and heart questions, with a college audience that was full of the need to hear grace and ask big questions, so Sid became an RUF Campus Minister for 10 years: 4 years at New Mexico State University and 6 years at Davidson College.

Most recently, Sid was the lead pastor of NorthCross Church in the Lake Norman Area of Charlotte. He and his family attended NorthCross for nearly 10 years, beginning in 2013.

Sid‘s spiritual life and ministry has been influenced by RUF’s philosophy of ministry, Barnabas Counseling, John Newton, Tim Keller, Eugene Peterson, Jack Miller, Frederick Buechner, Cornelius Plantinga, and Lesslie Newbigin. Sidenjoys strong cups of coffee, a good story (novels, movies, and tv shows), walking in the woods, watching sports (especially Charlotte FC, the Panthers, and Ohio State), and playing sports where you mostly stand around and sometimes sweat.
