Serve at Hope

Hope is dependent each and every week on volunteers to keep our ministry going. If you are looking for somewhere to serve, we would love for you to consider joining one of our teams.

  • Greeting Team
    Description: Hope’s Greeting Team is responsible for creating an atmosphere of hospitality and welcome for everyone who comes to worship at Hope Community Church. Greeters have the opportunity to make a lasting first impression & enhance worship for visitors, attendees, and members by making them feel invited and important from the very beginning. Greeters will work closely with the Building Team and will report to the Greeting Team Leader. Responsibilities and Commitment – Arrive 20 mins. before service starts to be in place  – Be friendly and welcoming by greeting each person with a bulletin – Offer a genuine “Good Morning!” or “Welcome to Hope!”, etc. – Serve as host: make each person feel welcome, comfortable, listened to, and important – Escort first-time families to Children’s Ministry check-in area  – Close front building doors and sanctuary doors once worship service begins – Tidy entryway area at the conclusion of the Worship Service – Find a replacement when you are unable to serve during your scheduled time Requirements  Greeting Team members should be dependable, hospitable, punctual, gracious, familiar with the children’s classroom locations and church layout, able to anticipate and react to diverse situations and people, and willing to serve 3-4 times per quarter.   • Building Team
    Description: Hope’s Building Team is charged with ensuring the security of the building and parking lots each Sunday at Hope in order to facilitate a safe and welcoming presence for everyone arriving at the worship service. Building Team Members will work closely with the Lay Ministry Development Director to determine needs and best practices for security and will also coordinate with the Office Administrator regarding additional needs week-to-week surrounding special events or additional building usage. Building Team members will be led by the Building Team Leader.  Responsibilities and Commitment – Arrive at site 30 minutes before the service starts when scheduled to serve (serving 4x per quarter) – Walk Through Opening Procedures with other Building Team Member scheduled to prepare building for congregants to arrive – Prepare the building by unlocking and propping open doors and turning on lights  – Ensure Hope signage is easily visible and help with directing traffic and parking – Communicate with Police Officer on duty and establish security presence in parking lot during the Worship Service – Complete Closing Procedures at the conclusion of the Worship Service – Secure entire building before leaving Requirements Building Team Members should have the ability to arrive early and stay late and should exhibit punctuality and be able to anticipate and react to diverse situations and people; moderate lifting is required.   • Worship Team
    Description: The Music team at Hope is under the Worship ministry and is responsible for the leading the songs and some of the liturgy during our worship services. We want to do our best to create an atmosphere of undistracted excellence in our worship services so that everyone who attends can engage with Jesus Christ and the good news of the Gospel. By providing leadership and high quality singing and playing during the services; the music team plays a vital role towards that goal. Responsibilities and Commitment – Arrive 10min before practice starts on Sunday mornings (site specific) – Be prepared with the music parts for the weeks songs – Have any chord/lyric charts needed for the weeks songs (printed out or on a phone/tablet) – Playing/singing for all practices and services for the week – Providing any equipment needed for your specific role that isn’t already provided by the church (i.e. guitar, violin, specific cables, etc.) Requirements Music Team members should have a passion for music, worship and helping people engage during worship services. Team members should also have experience playing/singing in a live music scenario or a willingness to be coached by the site worship coordinator or worship director (Ben Hester). They should also be dependable, punctual, and willing to make changes quickly depending on the needs of the worship coordinator or pastor. The serving schedule is flexible, but at least 1 time per month is the norm. The position also requires an audition period where the possible new team member will work with the worship coordinator or worship director to determine musical ability and general readiness to join the team for worship services. We want to do our best to create an atmosphere of undistracted excellence in our worship services so that everyone who attends can engage with Jesus Christ and the good news of the Gospel. By providing song lyrics, scriptures, quotes, etc.; the presentation team plays a vital role towards that goal. Responsibilities and Commitment – Arrive 1hr before the first service starts – Build and format that days service order within the Pro Presenter software which includes song lyrics, sermon Scriptures and quotes, liturgy, announcement slides, etc. – Run slides for all services  – Uploading sermon audio recordings into the Hope Dropbox folder at the end of services Requirements Presentation Team members should have a general familiarity with technology, specifically software similar to Powerpoint, Keynote, etc. Team members should also be dependable, punctual, and willing to make changes quickly depending on the needs of the worship coordinator or pastor.     Responsibilities and Commitment

  • Children's Ministry
    Description: The goal of Hope’s Children’s Ministry is to prepare our children to be gospel-dependent, spiritually healthy members of Christ’s body who are equipped to live missionally within the culture. Responsibilities and Commitment – Volunteers sign up quarterly and serve ON AVERAGE once a month – Arrive 20 mins. before service starts, check in, and report to assigned classroom – For those with a lesson (provided ahead of time by CM coordinator), read through and prep prior to Sunday morning – Greet children and families at the door of classroom – Provide a safe and loving environment for children – Teach lesson – Once all children have been picked up, neaten classroom – Find a replacement when you are unable to serve during your scheduled time (clear instructions are provided on how to do this) Requirements Children’s Ministry Volunteers should be kind, dependable, punctual, gracious, and willing to serve and love the children at Hope. Volunteers do NOT have to be members of Hope, but must have attended for a minimum of 6 months. Volunteers will complete a screening process and are required to attend a Child Safety Training.     Purpose:  Minister to the youth, walk alongside them, disciple students.   • Event Team
    Description: Hope’s Event Team is responsible for the behind-the-scenes work of creating an atmosphere of hospitality, ambiance, and fellowship at our many different events throughout the year. They are charged with the planning, coordinating and execution of bringing details together to facilitate events that reflect Hope’s mission and culture. Events Team members have the opportunity to use their gifts of creativity, organization, and leadership to make a significant impact both internally for Hope attendees and externally through the relationships and interactions that are established by working with various contacts in the service industry. Event Team volunteers will work closely with a the Event Coordinator to determine the needs and best practices for each event. Events at Hope range from decorating our spaces for holidays, various site-specific block parties and gatherings, to semi-regular church-wide events such as leadership meetings and Discovering Hope classes. Responsibilities and Commitment: – Serve 2 events per quarter- roughly 1 hour per week leading up to the event and up to 4 hours onsite at the event – Arrive 30 minutes to 1 hour prior to event starting – Be welcoming and personal to guests, vendors and caterers – Prepare the site event to function well: unlock doors, get drinks, set tables, and trash cans – Manage clean-up after the event – Be the onsite contact for caterer/vendors – Unlock/lock buildings – Ability to serve weeknights – Help execute Christmas and Easter decorating – Work with the Event Coordinator to dream up new events for Hope Requirements: The Event Team requires anticipating needs as the onsite coordinator for an event, being dependable, and taking care of problems as they arise. You may need to do some moderate lifting, and have the ability to delegate tasks to other volunteers. These team members should be trustworthy as they care for our church buildings. Serve 2 events per quarter. Willing to be outward facing to our community as we love to use local spots/vendors to host events. Join This Volunteer Team
