Preparing To Rejoice In Him // June 17, 2018

PREPARE YOUR HEART FOR WORSHIP ON JUNE 17, 2018

REFLECTION

“Men will never worship God with a sincere heart, or be roused to fear and obey Him with sufficient zeal, until they properly understand how much they are indebted to His mercy.”
~John Calvin

“To gather with God’s people in united adoration of the Father is as necessary to the Christian life as prayer.”
~Martin Luther

“The God whom we worship is not a weak and incompetent God. He is able to beat back gigantic waves of opposition and to bring low prodigious mountains of evil. The ringing testimony of the Christian faith is that God is able.”
~Martin Luther

WORSHIP IN SONG :: Rest My Soul

Rise, my soul, arise, God’s in control
You’re not alone
Rise into His light, His plans are good
You’re on His side

God of perfect peace, You are here with me
On this raging sea it’s true
You won’t let me go, You’re my joy my hope
I will rest my soul in You

Sing, my soul, now sing
For He is strong and you are weak
Yes, sing with everything
Your Savior’s praise, wave after wave

I will call upon Your name
You’re above my circumstance
All my life is in Your hands

CONFESSION OF FAITH :: Heidelberg, Question 1

Q. What is your only comfort in life and in death?

A. That I am not my own, but belong—body and soul, in life and in death—to my faithful Savior, Jesus Christ. He has fully paid for all my sins with his precious blood, and has set me free from the tyranny of the devil.

He also watches over me in such a way that not a hair can fall from my head without the will of my Father in heaven; in fact, all things must work together for my salvation.

Because I belong to him, Christ, by his Holy Spirit, assures me of eternal life9 and makes me wholeheartedly willing and ready from now on to live for him.
