If you’re interested in donating your car, please contact one of our deacons who will ensure that the vehicle is transferred to a needy individual in furtherance of our charitable purposes.
To ensure tax deductibility, you’ll first transfer your title to Hope, then Hope will (at its sole discretion) transfer the vehicle to a needy individual. This is generally done via instant title transfer whereby all parties are present at the NC DMV on the same day.
To prepare associated tax filings, we will need the vehicle’s mileage (on the date of contribution) and the donor’s taxpayer identification number (TIN). Please note that valuation of any donated vehicle is the responsibility of the donor; if you are considering a gift of a vehicle that is worth more than $5,000, you should consider obtaining a qualified appraisal.
