Preparing To Rejoice In Him // June 10, 2018

PREPARE YOUR HEART FOR WORSHIP ON JUNE 10, 2018

REFLECTION

“Envy denies grace. The assumption of envy is that we deserve what another has been given, when, in fact, you and I deserve nothing. Envy tells you that you have earned what you could never earn. Envy forgets who you are, forgets who God is, and is confused about what life is all about. Envy is a spiritual disaster.” – Paul David Tripp

“Envy is being unhappy at other people’s happiness.” – Tim Keller

WORSHIP IN SONG :: Amazing Grace

Amazing Grace, How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost, but now am found
T’was blind but now I see

T’was Grace that taught my heart to fear
And Grace, my fears relieved
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed

Through many dangers, toils and snares
We have already come.
T’was grace that brought us safe thus far
And grace will lead us home

Amazing grace, how Sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost but now am found
T’was blind but now I see

CORPORATE PRAYER OF CONFESSION :: Christian Love

Jesus, it is your desire that I should love You with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength, and my neighbor as myself. But I cannot. There is no pure love in my soul, only envy and anger. I am bound, as a slave to my own desires and cannot love You or others until You set me free.

Spirit of love, make me like the loving Jesus; give me His benevolent temper, His gracious actions, so that I may experience true joy that comes from you.

Humble me more each day; keep me meek and lowly. Remove the evil of envy and jealousy from my heart so I may rejoice with those who rejoice and weep with those who weep.

Oh, Jesus, my prayer is simple – help me love. I pray with all that grace enables. Amen.
